DHS Sal is my favorite salicylic shampoo out there. I'm sure all such shampoos do about the same good job of keeping your scalp psoriasis under control, but the difference with DHS Sal is that it does a good job cleaning your hair and rinses out thoroughly (it's not a gel) and doesn't contain much besides salicylic acid and shampoo base. (The simpler the better!)Also recommended: DHS Tar. I've found that alternating between these two shampoos--salicylic acid one day, coal tar the next--does a better job than using one exclusively.

I'd never experienced seborrheic dermatitis until age 52. My hair had always been on the dry side. I tried other shampoos with coal tar, pyrithione zinc, and selenium disulfide, all with minimal improvement at best.By the time I went to my dermatologist, my scratching and picking had caused several areas on my scalp to become infected. It was painful. My doctor put me on a course of antibiotics, and gave me some samples of DHS SAL Shampoo. Within one week my scalp was almost back to normal, and it's been that way for three months now. I expected the salicylic acid to cause my hair to become dry and brittle, but that has not been the case even after using DHS about every other day.This is a great product. The only down side I can see is the price, but it's not really any more expensive to use than some other OTC theraputic shampoos that didn't work for me.

My husband has this seborheic dermatitis and he was using Sebutone which worked really good, but this product got discontinued, so now he is trying other kinds of shampoos for his condition. The DHS Salicilic Acid is working ok so far; not as good as Sebutone, but still clears up most of the dandruff.
