The Paul Mitchell Modern Elixirs Refining Shampoo is a product that some folks will love, but others will hate. I'm on the fence, so I thought I'd share my opinion. I hope my review will help others decide whether or not to buy this shampoo.I have medium fine, straight hair and it tends to be dry if I wash every day, so in the past I've opted for moisture-rich shampoos. However, I stopped dyeing my hair last year and my fabulous grey locks don't like too much moisture, so I've been looking for something new. I like squeaky clean hair and I don't load it with styling products, so I need a shampoo that cleans without over-drying. This refining shampoo is NOT IT. I loved it at first, but after several weeks of regular use, my hair felt like a dried-out bale of hay. I use Pureology HydraLight conditioner, but it's not enough to tame the fire hazard on my head. It seems this shampoo, in my case at least, should be used only intermittently to strip build-up, which it does very well. But though it is labeled 'color-safe', I advise those with tinted hair to avoid this product.Also worth mentioning: my husband hates the smell, and has dubbed it the Convalescent Hospital Shampoo. Terrific.So back to square one. I will continue to use this shampoo once in awhile, because I DO like its astringent effect and when used sparingly, it offers a lovely result.For those of you with naturally oily hair, this just might be the shampoo for you. My daughter has oily hair and she LOVES it!

I used it after i colored my hair with no ammonia. The 28 day treatment is helping from stripping out the color.I give it five stars. it doesnt sud as much as I like it to so I have to use a little more. It smells great too. I used it with the conditioner that goes with it. I have seen a really big difference in less frizz. Thanks.
