I have gray/white hair. Three years ago we moved to a new house with well water. There is iron in our water and my hair started getting yellow. My hairdresser recommended Rene Furterer Okara Mild Silver Shampoo because of the de yellowing action. It works and it is a nice gentle shampoo.

I literally get compliments from people on the street when I use this shampoo (and not so much when I don't use it). I suspect that reviewers who had bad experiences didn't leave it on their hair for the right amount of time. Read the instructions on an RF product, as the times vary according to what the product does. In this case, too little time and you get brassiness; too much and you're that little old lady with blue-purple hair. If I wash my hair first, leave the shampoo on while I wash the rest of me, and then rinse it out everything works out perfectly. I use an RF conditioner-rinse for shine as well - that's a quick on & off so I still don't wait around for the timer to finish.
